Youth Red Cross dealswith Protection of Health & Life, Service to the Sick & Suffering,Promotion of National & International Friendship, to develop the mental andmoral capacities of the youth. The Red Cross Society is a worldwide, well known,universally accepted, admired and internationally identified humanitarianservice organization. It is the biggest, independent non-religious,non-political, non-sectarian and voluntary relief organization treating peopleequally all over the world without any discrimination as to their nationalityrace and religious beliefs. It was established in 1863 in Geneva, Switzerland.The Father of Red Cross movement and recipient of noble award for peace in 1901was “Jean Henry Dunant”.
Youth Red Cross programsare an integral part of the strategic approach taken by the Indian Red CrossSociety. They value the diverse and important roles that young people performas innovators, inter-cultural ambassadors, peer educators, communitymobilisers, and most importantly, agents of behavioral change and advocatesfor vulnerable people. When working alongside older generations in a spirit ofmutual respect, young people bring much needed ideas and skills. The promotionof knowledge transfer and growth, combined with the personal guidance thatolder, more experienced volunteers of the Red Cross can offer, is seen as a keyapproach to developing tomorrow's generation of leaders, today. Youth programshelp the Indian Red Cross Society to implement the Fundamental Principles ofour Movement through: International Humanitarian Law The protection of healthand life Community service Promotion of national and international friendshipand understanding by using the international links of the Movement.
Objectives
Ø Formation of trained medical relief team in every country inpeace time to be employed in the relief work for wounded soldiers in the battlefield.
Ø Framing of rules to alleviate the suffering of war victims andto have international treaty among the nations. Once agreed upon and satisfiedthis might assure humane care for wounded.
