Women Cell
The Women’s cell at Sai College was started with the aim ofempowering and orienting women to recognize their true potential and to helpthem attain their own stand in a competing world. Its goal is the overalldevelopment of women in all spheres of their life. It also helps in creatingawareness about important issues related to women and provides a forum fordiscussion and deliberation on a range of issues from empowerment toenvironment.
Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the femalestudents, it seeks to empower women in all spheres of life thus enabling themto become representatives of social and economic change. It proactively seeksto orient them to recognize their true potential through guest lectures,seminars, awareness programs, life skill training programs and other welfareactivities. The target group includes the institutional students, women fromthe local community and primary & secondary level students at nearbyschools.
Objectives:
· To impart knowledge regarding social, legal, and constitutionalrights of women to prevent gender bias and sexual harassment
· To enable them to make informed choices in areas like education,employment, and health
· To instill positive self-esteem and develop their criticalthinking skills so that they can take the right decision in and for their lives
· To make them aware of different kinds of violence: sexual,physical, & mental and equip them with the knowledge and courage to fightagainst them
· To empathetically deal with incidents of discrimination againstwomen or their sexual harassment by employer(s) or student(s)
· To sensitize the St. Thomas College community on gender equityissues by organizing sensitivity programs like seminars, workshops, paneldiscussions etc.
